DHTML is a powerful tool because it is an extension of HTML, the older system that created the foundation for the Internet. While HTML is static, DHTML is dynamic. This is the primary difference between the two. The advent of DHTML allowed the Internet to become more interactive. Users could view a dynamic page instead of one that simply sits still, never changing. The process of creating DHTML was complex, and involved the contribution of a number of different technologies. The ultimate goal of technologies such as DHTML is to give the user more control over the information they view on websites. However, DHTML was not designed to deal with altering the information on each page that was loaded. This was the domain of other technologies.
